Ed was born September 22, 1949 in Memphis, Tennessee to Edward L Carpenter Sr and Eddie (Morris) Carpenter. He is survived by his wife Julie (Cunningham) Carpenter of Lacon; brother Claude of Whitwell, Tennessee; children Scott (Kim) Carpenter of Jackson, Tennessee, Chad Carpenter of Parsons, Tennessee, Jessica (Mat) Gahm of Colorado Springs, Nicole (Robert) Mitchell of Colorado Springs, Eric (Andrea) Perry, Washburn, Illinois, and Tyler (Krista) Perry of Lostant, Illinois; grandchildren Gage, Mackenzie and Mason Carpenter, Max Broderick, Brady and Aiden Gahm, Elijah and Benson Mitchell, Kylie Perry, Tessa Peterson and Waylon and Phoebe Perry. Though his childhood was spent in Memphis, Ed's grandparents' farm in Jack's Creek, Tennessee held his heart, and he spent many summers working alongside his grandf
