Evelyn "Eve" Mae (Wood) Pries, 91, a fierce matriarch, avid strawberry lover, mother and grandmother, formerly of Lacon, IL, passed quietly, surrounded by her family and caregivers, with the rising sun on June 29, 2024 at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. Her departure from this life leaves all who knew and loved her with a lifetime of memories, recipes, and sharp-witted jokes.
Born April 24, 1933, on a rural Sparland, IL farm to Robert "Buster" Wood and Wilma (Fuchs) Nenne. Eve was preceded in death by three brothers: Edward, Robert, and William "Woody" and is survived by her sisters, Doris (Kizer) of Washburn, Darlene (Strong) of Peoria, and Peg (Goeke) of Du Quoin and innumerable extended family mourn her passing. Eve was a lifelong Lacon-area resident and graduated from Sparland High School, class of 1951.
